Is your patio sloped into the house or away from it? If it is sloped towards the house caulking that gap will only move the leak to the sides of the patio. You need to get the water away from the house. Trying to seal this or that leak will only move the problem elsewhere in the basement.
The original job (there when the house was purchased) had somewhat uneven edging where deck edge met pool rim. Getting the cover and cable on the pool was ok where the gap was maybe 2 inches, but a royal pain where it had narrowed it 1/2 inch.
Judging by the gap (1/4"-3/8") at the joist tops, I would guess the beam is 1-1/2" to 2" lower than the ledger. There appears to be sticky window guard/metal flashing painted white on the top of the beam for water protection, another usually over-looked item for quality.
Filling in that gap prevents you from doing so and provides a hidden path for termites to enter the house, made worse by being filled with (I assume untreated) wood that termites can use for food on the way into your house.

There is concrete caulk for gaps up to 1/4" There is concrete crack filler for up to 1/2" The gap is now 1" in some places but less in other places.
