Stir the all-in-one primer/paint with a paint stir stick, then pour some of the paint into a paint tray. Paint one side of the door, as well as the edges, using a paintbrush. Allow paint to dry completely.
Apply blue painter's tape to any areas you want protected from paint. Frame the walls surrounding the composite door frame with blue painter's tape if you are an inexperienced painter and believe you may have problems with brush control.
Apply a primer. Most primers work on fiberglass, but it's a good idea to double check with the paint store on the best one to use. Wait two hours or so until the primer is dry. Spray or use a brush to apply the final coat of paint. Wait until the paint is dry. Apply another coat of paint or apply the clear coat.
Wiyh a composite door its is basically plastic so a gentle rub down with some wet'n'dry or if its the wood grain finish type use wire wool to get rid of the shine and provide a key. Thin the gloss down that your going to use and give it two coats. The first coat might not cover 100% hence the need for the second coat.
A composite door has a a plastic skin reinforced with glass. I have seen recommendations to look at the types of paints used on fibreglass boats or even cars, or to wipe over with white spirit first or to use an extra-grip primer; even that you can just rub it down to get a key to hold gloss paint.
I would like to paint my already white composite front door black. Can anyone help with the best type of paint to use? I know I'll need to use a primer.
The next step is to prime your doors if they aren’t pre-primed or you aren’t painting over a previously painted door (unless you’re using latex paint on a door that was previously painted with an oil-based paint then you’ll still need to prime).

How are Composite Doors Made? Composite doors use a combination of materials which include wood, PVC, glass-reinforced plastic and insulating foam. A typical high-quality composite door has a sub-frame made from timber hardwood. It can be designed to look like a period piece or a more contemporary painted wooden door.

I have a composite door which is slightly damaged and as such requires painting. Has anyone on here ever painted a composite door and if so what paint did you use (inc primer presumably)? From my searching it seems that the point of composite doors is the fact you don't have to paint them.
Flip the door and clean the other side as well, keeping the paint can underneath to prop up the door. Allow door to dry thoroughly. Cover the hinges with masking tape or painter's tape.
