Generally speaking if you are going to use treated around aluminum must put down a barrier over the aluminum so the aluminum will not get eaten by the chemicals in the lumber.

Still I believe the warnings about using lumber that has been treated with copper can damage the aluminum in the pontoons. At least it would be my luck or-lack of luck- that it would. When I looked up the specs. on the copper treated lumber it said they weren't waterproof anyway.

looking for some knowledge on this subject, I realize you cant put treated lumber directly onto aluminum. I am in the process of wanting to build two platforms on my boat, these platforms will go over the existing flooring and existing carpet, so there wont be direct contact with the treated lumber and the aluminum.
The marina owner told me he once had to weld two 20 foot long strips of aluminium on a pontoon because of pressure treated wood and carpet. There is copper in PT wood and this will eat away the aluminium.
